How does ADMG work?
Like
Deer Management Groups themselves, ADMG is a voluntary body. Running costs
are funded by a subscription based on the annual cull of each member Group.
It is run by an Executive Committee chaired by Robert Balfour and administered
by the Secretary, Richard Cooke.
Each of the 8 areas into which the Scottish deer range is divided is
represented on the Committee and Meetings are held on a rotating basis
in each area. A number of experts are also co-opted to the Committee which
has a total membership of 19.
ADMG
works closely with other organisations, in particular the Scottish Gamkeepers
Association, British Deer Society and Scottish Rural Business and Property
Association. The Association has played an active role in the DCS Round
Table, a multi interest group set up in 1995 to assist DCS in the preparation
of the proposals which led to the passing of the Deer (Scotland) Act in
1996. The Round Table has continued in existence and meets twice annually
to discuss wide ranging matters in which deer play a part. This group
has proved particularly valuable in achieving compromises and creating
understanding in matters once perceived as controversial.
ADMG holds an Annual General Meeting in February in addition to three or four open Executive Committee Meetings on a rotating basis around Scotland every year. Annual publications include a Newsletter issued twice yearly and an Annual Report on the preceding Stalking Season. Copies are available on request and may also be viewed through the website. ADMG also takes a stand at the Game Conservancy Scottish Fair at Scone Palace each July and is represented at the Highland Field Sports Fair at Moy in August.
Services to members available through this website include a Stalking to Let advertising service.
A Trades Directory is also under development.
